RYAN MOORE AND NO. 74 BUSCH NORTH SERIES TEAM PENALIZED, FOR RULES VIOLATIONS AT LIME ROCK PARK

NASCAR Busch North Series driver Ryan Moore has been suspended by NASCAR, which will result in him missing the series finale at Thompson this weekend, unless an appeal is successfully conducted.

The suspension is the result of a post race incident with BNS Rookie of the Year contender Sean Caisse after the checkered flag was shown at Lime Rock Park in the Burnham Hydronics 200 last weekend. Moore was second in the series point standings, just 58 behind Andy Santerre, going into the road course race at Lime Rock Park. After qualifying second, Moore ran near the front of the field most of the day, but had problems late in the race and finished 12th, losing ground on Santerre with just one race remaining in the points battle.

After the race, Moore fell to third in the standings, now behind both Santerre and Mike Stefanik. The suspension will cost him a race worth of points, plus an extra 25 points will be taken from his season total to date.

His suspension from NASCAR competition will run through October 31, 2005. Moore had planned to run the Busch race at Homestead in November for DEI, and will still be eligible for that event.

There is no word yet on if he will appeal the suspension.

Other members of Moore's team were also penalized including his Dad, Kelly Moore, and his Crewchief, Jamie Lafarno.
