Busch East Scene to Present Salute to Law Enforcement Day at Dover

Busch East Scene, with the help of many NASCAR Busch East Series teams, will honor Law Enforcement Officers on September 21, 2007 at Dover International Speedway. That day, which is the season finale for the Busch East Series, has been declared Busch East Scene’s Salute to Law Enforcement Day.

Almost two dozen law enforcement officers will be at the track that day, serving as honorary crewmembers on various Busch East Series teams.

"Last fall I had the opportunity to see a group of law enforcement officers doing their jobs up close, and I was not only shocked by what these officers have to deal with to keep our streets safe, but I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism they displayed while doing their jobs," Busch East Scene Publisher George Campbell stated. "These officers are putting their lives on the line every time they punch their time clocks, just to keep the public safe. After doing a ride along with the Lancaster City Police department during one of their undercover drug stings, I wanted to give something back to these guys for all they do. I know they are race fans so it made sense to try to have a special day honoring them by giving them a day at the track to see the sport they enjoy up close."

Law Enforcement officers will be paired up as honorary crewmembers on several Busch East Teams including Andy Santerre Motorsports, the Mohegan Sun Race Team, the Little Tree’s Racing Team, Sellers Racing Team, Ken Schrader Racing and Team Glock.

"When I approached some of the teams with the idea of honoring Law Enforcement at Dover, the teams all stepped up and wanted to be a part of this day," Campbell said. "This event couldn’t have happened if the teams hadn’t wanted to support it and honor the officers for all they do."

Andy Santerre Motorsports has more than a passing interest in honoring law enforcement. ASM has two officers working on their team at the track each week.

Eric Lukacs is a crewmember on the #44 Casella Waste Services Team for ASM. He is also a police officer for the Lancaster City Police Department in Lancaster City, PA. Steve Kenahan is a crewmember for ASM on the #1 BASS Pro Shops Team. Kenahan is also a Rhode Island State Trooper.

Officers Ryan Gajecki and Mark Worthing will be honorary crewmembers on the #44 Casella Team for ASM while Officers Stephen Echternach and Bradley Klunk will be honorary crewmembers on the #1 ASM Team.

The GLOCK Team, featuring driver Michelle Theriault and the #37 Glock Chevy, will have several guests on their team this day. The team will have Officer Robert Wuller of the Philadelphia, PA, Police Department as a guest. Officer Wuller was named the 2006 Police Officer of the Year by PARADE magazine and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). The Police Officer of the Year Award is the highest honor in law enforcement.

The GLOCK Team will also have officers William Breault and Stanley Roache as honorary pit crew members for the Sunoco 150. Officer Roache was the 2005 Lancaster City, PA, Police Officer of the Year and Detective Breault was the 2006 Lancaster City, PA, Detective of the Year.

"Since the inception of the GLOCK pistol in 1986, Law Enforcement agencies quickly and overwhelmingly embraced our product almost as soon as it was introduced," states Gary Fletcher, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GLOCK. "We have been told that our product has brought upon a life saving effect upon the men and women in blue, and it is our position, that we would not be the leader in the firearms industry today, had it not been for their validation and immediate acceptance of our product. GLOCK would not be GLOCK without the Men and Women in Blue who wake each day to protect and to serve."

Officers Tom Cole and Matt Blake, also of Lancaster City, PA, will be honorary crewmembers on Ken Schrader’s NASCAR Busch East Team with driver Jamie Hayes.

Officers Gary McCrady and Edward McLaughlin will be participating in the Salute to Law Enforcement Day with Matt Kobyluck’s Mohegan Sun Team, as the team does their best to win the series championship in the series finale.

Officers Jayson Drouillard and Nate Nickel will join Mike Olsen’s Little Tree’s Racing Team as the team makes it final appearance with Little Tree’s after 12 years together.

Officers Martin Weaver and Michael Gerace will join Peyton Sellers’ team as they finish their outstanding debut season in the NASCAR Busch East Series.

There will be special guests meeting with the officers through the course of the day, and there will be a group photo taken with the officers and the #37 GLOCK race car.

Everyone at Busch East Scene is proud to be a part of this day and thanks everyone involved with making this day a success. Most of all we thank all the Law Enforcement Officers through out the country that work hard and risk their lives to protect the safety of others.
