Andy Santerre Motorsports Development Alliance Announced
Harrisburg, NC The 2008 NASCAR Sprint Media Tour, hosted by Lowe's Motor
Speedway, kicked off on Monday January 21, the first of the four-day event.
The annual tour brings 250 members of the local, regional, and national
media to North Carolina to cover news focused on the upcoming NASCAR season
such as new drivers, sponsors, paint schemes, and special announcements.
On day one the tour visited Richard Childress Racing where Richard Childress
personally announced RCR's developmental drivers for 2008. One of the
youngsters on that short list is his 17-year old grandson Austin Dillon, son
of former NASCAR driver Mike Dillon and wife Tina. He will compete full-time
in the NASCAR Camping World Series East under the tutelage of four-time
NASCAR East Series champion, Andy Santerre, owner of Andy Santerre
Motorsports. Dillon will drive a black #3 Chevy Monte Carlo which will be
sponsored by newcomer to the sport, Garage Equipment Supply based in
Moorpark, California.
"The year is looking good for us, I am real happy about working with Austin;
I know he wants to win races and he has his mind set on the "Rookie of the
Year' honor so we will do our best," said Santerre. "We are also excited
to
have Garage Equipment Supply on board with us this year as our primary
sponsor. They are new to the sport so we want to get their name out there
and help them sell their products." Founded in 1997 Garage Equipment
Supply has quickly become one of the largest independent automotive tool and
equipment providers in the nation.
The #3 Garage Equipment Supply Chevy Monte Carlo will make its debut with
Austin Dillon behind the wheel at the NASCAR Camping World Series
season-opener on April 18th at Greenville Pickens Speedway, Greenville,
North Carolina.
