Bobby Grigas, III
to Get 08 Racing Season Started at
Anything Can Happen
at New
MARSHFIELD, MA (February 5,
2007)
There is no easing into the racing season for Massachusetts driver Bobby Grigas,
III, who will be one of dozens of Tour-type Modified competitors who will get their 2008
campaigns started at New Smyrna Speedway this month.
Grigas is entered in the 42nd
Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, commonly known as New Smyrna
Speedweeks. The races at New Smyrna take place over a nine-day period and
range from 25-lap sprint races to the prestigious 100-lap Richie Evans Memorial race.
When compared typical races on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour that last for 150
laps, the pace of the Speedweeks events are fast and furious, which can lead to all kinds
of interesting action.
Its a nine-day battle, said
Grigas. Anything can happen down there. Im excited and were
all definitely pumped up for the whole week.
Last season, Grigas struggled with the set-up
of his #09 Modified after the track was repaved. This year, after a season of
break-in has occurred at the track, Grigas thinks that it might be a little bit easier to
get a grip on the surface.
Hopefully, with some more rubber on the
track, well have a better handle on it. Last year, then we had tire problems
and were struggling. This year, well hopefully have a better handle on it.
Grigas is hoping for a breakthrough Speedweeks
this time around.
Were hoping for a good year at New
Smyrna, said Grigas. I hope to win a couple of times. I hope to be
in contention for the championship at the end of the week. Thats all about
surviving every night and finishing in the top five. If you can do that, youll
almost have the championship wrapped up by the end of the week.
The World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing
will take place at New Smyrna starting on Friday, February 8th. Coverage
of the races can be found at www.speed51.com
throughout the nine days of competition.
