PASS South at Watermelon Capital Speedway Saturday

 

Naples ME – (April 24, 2008)  The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late models are poised and ready to bring their own brand of  circle track thunder to Cordele Georgia's Watermelon Capitol Speedway for the Watermelon 125 this Saturday, and the PASS office phones have  been ringing off the hook  with calls from competitors anxious to enter the fray.

 

The pre-entry list already includes many of the top Super Late Model racers in the southeast.

 

PASS South point leader Corey Williams will be gunning for two checkered flags in a row. The Easter Bunny 150 winner should feel right at home at Cordele as the lack of retaining walls in the corners and on the backstretch is reminiscent of most speedways in his native state of Maine.

 

David Ragan is a star at both the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup levels. He’ll have home track advantage Saturday when he straps in, but the competition will be fierce.

 

A tough bunch of up and coming young guns will be on hand to challenge. Zach Stroupe is fresh off a breakthrough PASS South performance at Hickory where he finished fourth. Mitch Cobb calls Colorado home but his team has a famous Georgia connection. His Bill Elliot Racing entry was fast at Hickory and Cobb has high hopes for a strong run in Elliot’s home state. Spencer Wauters will look  to jump start his PASS South season with a good run at Watermelon, and  Kyle Busch Motorsports  development driver Alex Haase will be back in the PASS South series after a 17^th place finish in the PASS North opener at  Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough Maine.

 

Justin Wakefield, Jeff and Allen Gordon, Devan Hall and Tyler Millwood are just a few of the Georgia boys entered. South Carolina is well represented with Strom Altman and Clete Caywood on the list. Hickory fast timer Heath Hindman will make the trek from Signal Mountain Tennessee and Perry Brown will head up the highway from Florida for the Watermelon 125. John Batten, Mark Gibson and Easter Bunny third place finisher John Stancill all represent North Carolina and Ginny Quinones will be towing all the way from Pen Argyl Pennsylvania to try and crack the starting field.
