Marios sweeps Pro finals at Canaan for Can-Am RMR Series

CANAAN, N.H. (July 14, 2008) - Veteran ATV racer Luke Marios gets pretty
serious when racing in his home state. The athlete from Weare put on a
clinic Sunday, sweeping the Pro division finals as Rock Maple Racing (RMR)
completed Round 5 on the 2008 Can-Am Series schedule at the River's Edge ATV
Park.
Marios powered his Suzuki to victory in both the Pro Unlimited and Pro Am
classes, finding the quick lines around this challenging track. Brian Daigle
finished second in the Pro Am final with a strong run on his Kawasaki.
Steffan Dager added two more victories to his impressive 2008 campaign on
Sunday. The rider from Hampstead, NH, claimed both the A Unlimited and Plus
25 finals, capping a strong outing in his home state. Local favorite Andrew
Ruel of Enfield earned his fifth win of the season in a hotly-contested C
Unlimited final. Ruel held off David Livingston and Glynn Desilva for top
honors.
Justin Chamberland also notched a pair of wins at Canaan. The young athlete
from Pittston, Maine, out-gunned Dale Robinson and Adam Wyman to claim the
Open Amateur class, then held off Robinson and Curtis Gillilan to win the
Production Lites final. Livingston found redemption in the 16-24 year-old
class, beating Bruce Gaspardi to the line for top honors.
Colin Lancaster broke George Layton's stranglehold on the Plus 35 class, as
the rider from Salem, MA, out-gunned the veteran from Averill Park, New
York. Richard Murtaugh was the rider to beat in Junior competition at
Canaan, earning three final round wins in a great effort. The young racer
from Fulton, NY, won both the Junior and Senior divisions of the 0-50cc
class, then added a victory in 70cc Modified action to complete the hat
trick.
Other winners Sunday in the MX classes include Montana Jess (0-90cc
Unlimited); Petra Undeborg (Women Unlimited); Alex Parker (0-90cc Modified);
Tatum Hax (0-90cc Limited); and Chris Kearney (0-70cc Unlimited).
In QuadTerrain action at Canaan, Nick Lima and Alex Layn both registered
final round wins. Lima, of Wakefield, Mass., held off Peter Gallant to claim
the 500 final, while Layn, of Bristol, VT, out-dueled Joey Delacruz and
Devon Kariak to win the Terrain Open final.
RMR's new Pit Bike series was also in action Sunday at Canaan. Mike Lowrey
and Evan Arnold both posted two wins in their respective divisions, making a
loud and clear statement to their competition. Lowrey, of Northfield, NH,
earned his victories in the Youth 10-inch and Youth 12-inch classes, while
Arnold, of Willington, CT, ruled the Pro classes on his Kawasaki. Arnold
held off David Souza and Scott Furtado to claim the Open class, then led the
same pair (although in different order) across the line in Pro 12-inch.
These Pit Bikes are as exciting to watch as their full-blown motocross
brothers, adding more thrills to a weekend of Can-Am Series action.
Other winners in Pit Bike competition at Canaan include Jeremiah Murphy (Pro
10-inch); Ken Lowrey (Stock 10-inch); Andrew Harman (Stock 12-inch); Dennis
Gendron (Open Amateur); and Taylor Raisanen (Mod 12-inch).
