Childress Named NASCAR Camping World Series East Director

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 22, 2008) - Kip Childress has been named the
NASCAR Camping World Series East Director.

As series director of the NASCAR Camping World Series East, Childress'
return to NASCAR will be with a series that has seen significant growth in
popularity and national affiliation in recent years. Childress was an
official with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series during its first five
years of existence from 1995-2000.

"I'm very excited to rejoin the NASCAR family," Childress said. "The
NASCAR Camping World Series East is an excellent proving ground and I look
forward to working with the teams and competitors."

A third-generation NASCAR official, Childress has been associated with
motorsports throughout his life. His grandfather, Gaither, served as Chief
Steward at various tracks, including Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem,
N.C. His father, Lance, served in a number of capacities for NASCAR for
two decades.

A resident of Lexington, N.C., Childress got his start with NASCAR as a
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series official at Caraway Speedway in
Asheboro, N.C. Childress, 38, also officiated at Tri-County Motor Speedway
in Hudson, N.C., before joining the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
toward the end of its inaugural season in 1995.

In 2000, Childress stepped away from officiating, but worked within the
motorsports industry until this appointment.

Childress replaces Les Westerfield, who served as interim series director
in 2008. Westerfield will return to his previous position as race director
for the NASCAR Camping World Series West.
