Cardinal Motorsports Makes Debut in Daytona: Wreck Ends Sellers Night Early
Daytona Beach, FL: Peyton Sellers and the #47 SkillsUSA/Jig-A-Loo Chevrolet made their debut with Cardinal Motorsports in sunny Daytona Beach, FL at the ARCA Re/Max Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200. Unfortunately a wreck early in the race ended Sellers night early.
Friday afternoon Sellers qualified 26th for Saturday nights 80 lap race. At the end of practice on Friday night, Sellers was 11th fastest.
When the green flag waved, Sellers was confident and ready to race. He gained four places within the field before the end of the first lap. After getting stuck on the inside for several laps, he drifted back to 29th. Sellers was working his way forward when the car began to get loose. Coming out of turn three, on lap 13, the car got out from under him, sending him spinning down onto the apron and bringing out the first caution of the night. Sellers was able to keep control of the car and avoid any damage.
Adjustments to the car allowed Sellers to begin work his way back through the field when the green flag waved again. Sellers had worked his way up from 30th to 17th by lap 30 when he was involved, with several other cars, in a wreck coming out of turn four. Despite his best attempts to stay out of the wreckage, Sellers was hit from behind and pushed into the wall. The car sustained damage to the left front fender causing the team to call it a night.
We had a great car, said Sellers. It is always disappointing when a night is ended early. The crew did a great job getting the car ready for this weekend.
In conjunction with the race, Jig-A-Loo and SkillsUSA announced the #47 SkillsUSA die cast car promotion. The die cast car will be a replica of the car that Sellers ran this weekend. Proceeds from the die cast car will go to support branding for SkillsUSA. More details will follow in the upcoming weeks.
SkillsUSA member Bosch is also lending product support to the newly formed team this season.
Cardinal Motorsports next scheduled race will be the teams much anticipated debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with sponsor SFP at Texas Motor Speedway on April 4th. SFP is the teams primary sponsor for ten NASCAR Nationwide races this year. More information on the teams schedule is available online at www.PeytonSellers.com.
