Christopher, and Laperle Lead The Latest Speedweeks Winners

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL (February 10, 2009) –There were some familiar faces in victory lane on Night Five of the 43rd Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).  Six divisions raced throughout Tuesday evening with six different drivers taking home victories.

 

In the Tour-type Modified feature, Connecticut’s Ted Christopher held off Jimmy Blewett to win his first Speedweeks race of the 2009 season.  Those two were followed to the finish by Chuck Hossfeld, Ronnie Silk and Jon McKennedy.

 

Meanwhile, Jeff Choquette won his third Super Late Model feature event so far of Speedweeks 2009.  With the victory, he extended his point lead in the division.  The top five finishers in the Super Late Models on Tuesday night were rounded out by David Rodgers, Wayne Anderson, Johanna Long and Jack Landis

 

For the second night in a row, Canadian racer Patrick Laperle won the Crate Late Model feature.  Early leader Landon Cassill was spun out of the race on lap 15.  David Wagner finished in the second position with Joey Gase, Kyle Maynard and Eric Chase rounded out the top five finishers.

 

Other winners were Ryan Preece in the Florida Modifieds and Drew Brannon in the Limited Late Models.

 

The sixth night of Florida Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway will take place Wednesday, February 11th.  The Tour-Type Modifieds, Super Late Models, Late Models, Crate Late Models and Florida Modifieds will all see action.  Special 50-lap events will be on tap for the Florida Modifieds and the Tour-type Modifieds, who will run the Second Annual John Blewett, III Memorial 50.  Green flag for the first feature event is scheduled for 7:30pm ET.
