Brunelle sweeps Pro finals in Findley Lake
for Rock Maple Racing
FINDLEY LAKE, NY (Mar. 30, 2009) - Quebec native and rising Semi-Pro star
Lucas Brunelle made a clear statement about his future intentions Sunday,
sweeping the Pro finals as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) completed the final round
of West series snocross competition at the Peek N' Peak Resort and Spa.
Brunelle, of Boucherville, piloted his Ski-doo to victory in Pro Stock over
Vermont's Brad Davis (Polaris) and New York native Jason Stone (Ski-doo).
Brunelle will eventually move up to Pro full-time, and will bear watching as
his learning curves progresses.
Warren Achman prevailed in a hotly-contested Pro Vet final, holding off Joe
Sickler and Clyde Peek for the win. Michelle Lemieux continued her
impressive season with another win in the Pro Women final. Lemieux, of
Cabot, VT, out-gunned Amanda Kirchmeyer and Janell Smith for top honors.
Lemieux also won the Plus 25 Stock final, out-gunning Brian McGrath and
Glynn Desilva to prove it's not always a man's world in Plus 25.
Aside from the Pro finals, all eyes were focused on the third annual
Semi-Pro Shootout at Peek N' Peak. This prestigious event pays $2,000 to win
and showcases the young athletes with a bright future in snocross. For 2009,
it was Aaron Pfeifer, of Blossvale, NY, who came out on top. Pfeifer, who
has been strong all season in Central series action, held off RMR veterans
Shaun St. Onge and Brunelle for the victory. Davis and West series regular
Kyle Becker completed the top five.
In the last Semi-Pro finals of the West season, Mike Tietjen and Cory Roman
both posted wins. Tietjen, of Cresco, PA, powered his Ski-doo to victory in
Semi-Pro Open over Roman and Mitchell Sickler. Roman, of Reynoldsville, PA,
out-dueled Becker and Andrew Bailey to claim the Semi-Pro Stock final.
Trevor Day gave the Polaris faithful reason to cheer in Sport division
action in Findley Lake. Day, of Conesus, NY, won Saturday's Super Stock
final over AJ Tornatore and Ashlee Woskob. Day also claimed Sunday's Sport
Stock 600 final over Mike Billow and Tornatore, while Woskob bounced back to
claim Sunday's Super Stock final. Ryan Fox joins our list of Sport division
winners (500 class) with his triumph over Marshall Himes and Brian Barber.
Riders in the Sport division also competed in the United Civil Contractors
"Dash for Cash," with Andrew Bailey holding off Billow and Tornatore for top
honors. Congratulations to both Aaron Pfeifer (Semi-Pro Shootout) and Bailey
for their wins in these high-profile races.

Scott (three) each recorded multiple final-round wins. Jess, of Westminster,
MA, piloted his Ski-doo to wins in Saturdays Jr. 10-13 Stock 380 and 600
Fan classes, then held off Matt Cameron to repeat his performance on Sunday.
