PASS racers ready for The Ridge

NAPLES ME. (April 28) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models, Mods and Sportsman will all converge on Beech Ridge Motor Speedway this Saturday May 2 for their second tilt of 2009, and there’s several teams with momentum on their side and a few that are looking for redemption after a tough day at the Speedway 95 opener.

Johnny Clark (SLM) and Steve Bennett Jr. (Mods) and Carey Martin (Sportsman)went home winners in the season’s lid lifter, and they have to feel good about their chances at Beech Ridge Saturday. Richie Dearborn led the most laps (84) at 95 and he’ll be looking to lead lap 150 at Beech Ridge. Kelly Moore can hear the cars on the speedway from his race shop and he’s right at home at The Ridge.  Cassius Clark is on top of the points after finishing second to “the other Clark” at 95, and he’ll be looking for his first trip to victory lane since 2007.

DJ Shaw, Ben Rowe, and Travis Benjamin all had sub-par performances in the season opener and will look to rebound on Saturday,  as will Andy Shaw who lost a rear end in his PASS Mod while out in front of the field.

Carey Martin and Dan McKeage and Richie Morse finished 1-2-3 in a 75 lap PASS Sportsman thriller, and you can expect more of the same from three of the toughest racers around, in any division.

Steve Knowlton will be making his first start of 2009 in the Ciotti #10, as will Matt Frahm and Bill Rodgers. Shawn Turple and John Fleming are both making the long tow from the Canadian Maritimes .Expect a few of the Beech Ridge regulars and some other surprise entries to roll into the pits for Saturday’s season opener.

There’s practice for all PASS and Beech Ridge divisions on tap for Thursday and Friday. Gates open at noon and rotating practice will run from 2:00 until 7:00 PM each day. The grandstands will be open to the public free of charge.  On race day the pit area opens at 10:00 and the front gates will swing open at 11:30. The qualifying races go green on Saturday at 3:00 PM, followed by 265 laps of green flag  feature racing.
