Brian
Hoar will continue a great tradition of Racing Champions
that participate in the Busch Sport Scene Ride for
Charity. The recently crowned 2009 American Canadien Tour
Champion has confirmed that he will be at the 11th annual
charity event on February 6, 2009 at the Club House
Restaurant in Rangeley, Maine. Brian is a six-time ACT Tour champion from Williston, VT. His impressive racing resume includes at least one race win in each of his full time seasons on the ACT Late Model Tour from 1992 to 2000 and holds the record for most wins in a season with five in 1999. He also has the most total wins in ACT Late Model Tour history with twenty-five. His first win of the 2009 season, and 24th of his ACT career, came when the ACT Tour made it's return to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine last July. He followed that race up with another win, this time at Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut. Brian has also competed in the NASCAR Camping World Series / Busch North Series. In 2001, Brian and his family owned team moved from late models to the NASCAR Busch North Series. He earned one Pole Award and had seven top ten finishes on his way to winning the prestigious NASCAR Rookie of the Year Award that year. Not only did Brian go on to win in NASCAR, but in 2005 he won the very prestigious New Hampshire Motor Speedway Track Championship. The event has a rich history of support from racing champions. In the previous ten years of the event's history, the reigning NASCAR champion has attended the event in all but one of those years. Last year Matt Kobyluck joined the impressive list of Jamie Aube, Dale Shaw, Dave Dion, Kelly Moore, Brad Leighton, Mike Olsen and Andy Santerre. "I am thrilled to have Brian joining the 11th Annual Busch Sport Scene Charity event this winter," event organizer and Busch Sport Scene publisher George Campbell said. "Brian is a great champion, he is a great down to earth kind of guy that is always fun to be around. I cannot think of a better person to represent the ACT series now. He is one of the most respected drivers on the tour and has become one of the most popular among the fans as well. This will be a great opportunity for race fans in northern New England to meet Brian and see what a great person he is." "George has always put on a great event that has always been a lot of fun and it is in support of several great causes," Brian said, "I only hope there is another Moose antler for me to bid on!!!" Brian was the high bidder on a moose antler in one of the events auctions a few years ago! "I am really pleased that Brian was able to fit our event into his busy off season schedule," Campbell said. "Not only is Brian a Championship race car driver, but he is a very successful businessman in Vermont as vice president of Goss Dodge Chrysler of South Burlington, VT., and a very devoted family man. I know how precious time can be. Brian's support of this event shows how popular the event has become." The event includes a Poker Run snowmobile ride during the day followed by a full evening of entertainment. The proceeds go to several charities including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Special Olympics, Travis Roy Foundation, Rangeley Snowmobile Club, Busch Sport Scene Scholarship Fund and the Camping World Series Women's Auxiliary and their various charities. Credentials for the event can be purchased for $10 in advance either at the Club House, the Rangeley Chamber or from Busch Sport Scene. The tickets will be $20 the day of the event. Busch Sport Scene is a New England based sports magazine. Current Busch Sport Scene subscribers will receive a $5 discount on the day of the event, as will NASCAR, PASS & ACT team members that present their licenses. For room availability or directions, you can call the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-MT-LAKES.
