The chase to the 2010 championship continues Saturday with

only three points separating veteran driver Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, VT., and

Defending series champion Jon McKennedy, E.Chelmsford, MA., when the

Modified Racing Series, sponsored by Bob Valenti AutoMall.com, heads south

to the famed Seekonk Speedway, Rte 6, Seekonk, MA.

A strong list of entries is expected to enter. They’ll compete in 12 lap-qualifying races

and a 100 lap green flag feature race with 24 cars to start the event.

Local favorites Todd Annarummo, of Swansea, Ma., and Dave Berghman, of Seekonk, lead the list of entries that includes, Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT., Steven Masse, Bellingham, MA, Louie Mechalides, Tyngsboro, MA., Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon, Valley, PA., Kenny Barry, Preston, CT., 2009 Koszela Speed Rookie of the Year Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME., 2010 rookie contender Joey Jarvis, Ascutney, and Beacon Falls CT., veteran Eddy Spiers.

Annarummo, still seeking his first MRS win, scored his biggest victory last month in a special non-sanctioned modified race winning $10,000, while Berghman’s only MRS win came at his home track in 2006.

The popular speedway has hosted highly competitive series races with 9 different winners in 13 events since 2004.

Two-time winners include Hinckley, Kirk Alexander, Swanzey, NH., Vinnie Annarummo, Swansea, and Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., with Andy Seuss, Hampstead, NH., Louie Mechalides, Tygnsboro, MA., McKennedy, and Mike Stefanik, Coventry, RI., joining Berghman in the single win column.

Saturdays race program begins at 6:00 PM.
