Ray Parent-Victorious in Second Career Waterford Speedbowl Start

(Waterford, CT) – ACT Late Model Driver Ray Parent knows a good thing when he sees it. What he saw last week, when the Tiverton, RI Native made his first trip to the racy 3/8-mile Waterford Speedbowl was a track he immediately had an appreciation for. “I really like the racing here and I can’t wait to come back” Ray said last week, when he came home with a Top-5 finish in his first career start at the Speedbowl.

Well, fast forward to July 2, Ray Parent and crew hauled the #17 Amtrol, Hydrolevel Controls, Valcourt Heating Ford Fusion Late Model into the pits at Waterford, looking forward to competing in the special 50-Lap event.

“We were fast, right off the hauler and after several rounds of practice we were confident with our set-up” Parent also said, “I really felt that we had a great shot at coming home with another solid finish.”

The Late Models had time trials to determine the starting order and Ray ran the seventh-fastest time but by virtue of the pole sitter drawing the number seven, Parent was able to start on the pole position.

The Valenti Auto Mall Late Models saw Seventeen cars take the green flag, with Parent on the point, there was a great battle for most of the race between Parent and Multi-time Waterford Champion #35 Bruce Thomas.

The crowd at Waterford was given a great race to watch as the leaders battled down to the final corner on the final lap. Parent was chasing down Thomas and vice-versa for much of the race and going to turn 3-4 on the final lap, Ray was able to sneak his #17 Amtrol Sponsored Ford under Thomas to come out victorious.

You can see the Rayline Race Team in action next, July 9 at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH with the American-Canadian Tour, for the “Twin State 100”
